Rufat Mahmud, Chairman of the Board of the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, delivered a speech at the international conference “Inclusive and Sustainable Cities: New Approaches to Urban Development” held within the framework of World Urban Forum 13 (#WUF13).

Speaking at the panel session titled “Building Human Capital for Sustainable and Resilient Urban Development,” he highlighted modern management approaches implemented in Icherisheher for the preservation, development, and transmission of historic urban spaces to future generations.

During his speech, Rufat Mahmud noted that Icherisheher is managed based on the “#livingheritage” concept, where modern technologies are applied not to replace heritage, but to protect and manage it more effectively.

He also emphasized that within the framework of the “#SmartHeritage” approach implemented in Icherisheher, a digital cadastre system is used for the registration and preservation of monuments, “smart mobility” solutions help manage visitor flows, while mobile applications and digital services contribute to creating a more accessible, flexible, and functional urban environment for residents and visitors.
